Memphis doesn't need an excuse to dance, but this week hands you a few anyway. From two blues nights on Tuesday to a full-on Minneapolis funk party at the Orpheum on Sunday, here's where the grooves are, Tuesday, October 20 through Monday, October 26.

Sunday headliner: Morris Day & The Time at the Orpheum

If you only circle one show this week, make it this one. Morris Day & The Time take the stage at the Orpheum Theatre on Sunday, October 25 at 7:00 PM. Expect the swagger, the suits and the kind of crowd that sings every word. Yes, it's a Sunday night. Your Monday alarm has already asked for an extension.

Tuesday: a double shot of blues and R&B

Start the week right. At 7:00 PM on Tuesday, October 20, Memphis-based rhythm and blues guitarist and vocalist Jad Tariq plays Tin Roof Memphis. He's a local name making waves on the national scene, so this is a chance to say you saw him on a Tuesday before everyone else caught on.

Same night, same time, over at Blues City Cafe: Rodd Bland: Brimstone Jones LIVE. Most folks would call Rodd Bland blues royalty. He's the son of Bobby "Blue" Bland, so the family business is in very good hands. Can't decide? Beale Street rewards the indecisive.

Thursday: Ghost Town Blues Band

Back at Blues City Cafe on Thursday, October 22 at 7:00 PM, Ghost Town Blues Band bring what's been called a "shoot-from-the-hip Memphis attitude" and a Stax-busting take on modern blues. Their album Shine debuted at #1 on the Billboard Blues Chart, which tells you this one won't be background music.

Saturday: Cash Money & No Limit at FedExForum

Want something louder? The Cash Money & No Limit Tour rolls into FedExForum on Saturday, October 24 at 8:00 PM. It's a big night of Southern hip-hop nostalgia. Heads up: acts are subject to change, so check the listing before you go.

Make a week of it

The forecast looks friendly for walking between venues, with sunny skies and highs in the mid-to-upper 70s most of the week, according to the National Weather Service. Grab tickets early for the Orpheum and FedExForum shows, bring a friend, and tip your bartender. Every ticket you buy helps keep Memphis stages lit.
